Make a custom vinyl record in 3 simple steps
You have the story. We put it on vinyl. Here's how it works from the moment you place your order.
Order your record
Choose your format — black vinyl in 7", 10", or 12", colored vinyl, or wedding guest book. Complete your order. You don't need to have your songs or photos ready at checkout. Henry will reach out right after.
Send your songs & photos
Within minutes of your purchase, Henry emails you a link to a short form. Share your Spotify link, MP3 files, or just the song titles. Add your photos. Henry handles all design, mastering, and audio sourcing — you don't need to prepare anything in advance.
Approve your free art proof
You receive a full digital mockup within 24 hours. Nothing goes to production until you approve every detail. Once you say yes, we press your record and ship it — free, worldwide.
Your music — what you can use and how to send it
You don't need to be technical. If you have a playlist you love on Spotify or Apple Music, just send us the link — that's it. If you have songs saved on your phone or computer, those work too. And if you're not sure what format your files are in, don't worry — just send them and Henry will tell you if anything needs adjusting.
Here's what you can put on your record:
- A Spotify or Apple Music playlist: Share the link and we source the audio for you. YouTube and Soundcloud links work the same way.
- Songs from your phone or computer: MP3, WAV, or any common audio format. If you downloaded them from iTunes or Amazon Music, they're ready to go.
- Voice messages and recordings: Wedding vows, a birthday speech, a parent's voice message, a baby's first words — anything you can record on your phone counts as audio we can put on vinyl.
- A mix of everything: You can combine popular songs with a personal voice message between tracks. Henry manually balances the volume so everything sounds consistent from start to finish.
You send all of this through the form Henry emails you right after your purchase — no need to prepare anything before ordering.
What is the best audio format for sound quality?
WAV or AIFF at 24-bit gives the highest quality, but a 320kbps MP3 also sounds excellent on a lathe-cut record. If you only have a streaming link, that works just as well — we source the best available audio from it.
A note on volume: CCS Vintage records play at a slightly lower volume than factory-pressed commercial records. This is normal for one-off lathe-cut manufacturing — it's the same technology used to make one-of-a-kind records since the 1950s. It's the right choice for a meaningful personal gift. It's not intended for audiophile-level studio monitoring.
How much music fits on a vinyl record?
Each size has a physical limit per side. Staying within it ensures the best sound and bass response — going over it reduces quality noticeably. Here's a simple reference:
| Size | Time per side | Songs (max per side) | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| 7-inch | Up to 6 min | Max 2 songs | A single moment · One special song |
| 10-inch | Up to 12 min | Max 4 songs | Short playlist · EP |
| 12-inch (LP) | Up to 20 min | Max 6 songs | Full playlist · Album experience |
These limits are a physical property of vinyl — they apply regardless of the manufacturer. Not sure which size fits your playlist? Share your song list in the form after your purchase and Henry will recommend the best fit.
Not sure which size is right for your playlist? Share your song list in the form after your purchase and Henry will recommend the best fit for your music.
Your cover — photos or your own design
Your record comes with 4 places for photos: the front cover, the back cover, and two center labels — one for each side of the disc. You can use the same photo in all four, mix different ones, or leave some blank. There's no right or wrong way to do it.
When you fill out the form after your purchase, you'll upload whatever photos you want to use. Yayi reviews every layout before anything goes to print — so even if you're not sure about placement or resolution, we'll catch anything that needs adjusting.
You have two options for the design itself:
Just send us your photos
Send your photos through the form and Yayi designs your cover around them. No templates, no software, no experience needed. Most customers choose this option.
Use our free Canva templates
If you enjoy designing, we offer 25+ free Canva templates — one for each cover position. Upload your finished design through the form and Yayi will review it before production.
Either way, nothing goes to print until you've approved your art proof. You'll see exactly how your cover looks before we make anything. If something isn't right, we fix it — no extra charge.
Choose the format that fits your story
Every record plays on any standard turntable and ships free worldwide. The difference is size, disc color, and what the occasion calls for.

8,000+ records made: what actually works
After 8,000 records, we've learned what makes a custom vinyl great — and what causes problems. Every order benefits from that experience.
"I'm not very digital savvy, and having them handle the music took such a load off my mind. The record was perfect."
"As soon as he opened it he played it. The sound quality was amazing and took us right back to our wedding day."
"This exceeded all my expectations. One of the best gifts I have ever given — and Henry was there every step of the way."
Can you make a custom vinyl record as a gift for someone?
Yes — and honestly, that's how most of our records get made. Not for someone who already loves vinyl. For the person who will learn to love it because of what's inside.
A custom vinyl record as a gift works because it reverses the usual logic of gifting: instead of buying something they might like, you're making something that could only exist for them. Their songs. Your photos together. A voice message you recorded just for this moment, hidden as a surprise on Side B — something only you two would understand when you hear it drop in after the last song.
The occasions we make records for most often:
Anniversary is our most requested occasion, followed by Christmas — demand increases sharply from November 15 and our team works at up to 5× regular capacity to meet it. If you're planning a holiday gift, order early.
Three things that make a vinyl record work as a gift:
- A specific song that means something between you — not just a good playlist, the one that takes you both back to a moment
- A photo where both of you are actually present — not just a pretty shot, the one that tells the story
- A personal message somewhere on the record — on the front cover, the back, or even a voice recording hidden between songs that only you and they will know is there
Anniversaries, weddings, birthdays, and beyond — with specific ideas for each occasion.

What are the most common mistakes
when making a custom vinyl?
Henry and Yayi review every order personally. These are the five things that come up most often — and how we handle each one so you don't have to worry about them.
Mistake 01
Overfilling the record side
Adding more music than a side can hold reduces playback volume and bass response. The limits in the size table above aren't arbitrary — they're a physical property of vinyl.
Mistake 02
Low-resolution images
Screenshots from a phone often lack the detail needed for a 12-inch cover. At print size, a low-res image loses sharpness and can look blurry on the finished record.
Mistake 03
Incorrectly placed text or faces
Both the jacket and center labels have physical safe zones. Details placed too close to the outer edge risk being trimmed. On center labels, the hole in the middle cuts through anything placed in the dead center. This applies when you design your own artwork — if we're designing it for you, we handle all of this automatically.
Mistake 04
Uneven audio levels
Mixing loud commercial songs with a quiet voice recording creates a jarring experience — you have to reach for the volume dial between every track.
Mistake 05
Ordering too close to the deadline
Demand increases significantly from November 15 and our production runs at up to 5× regular capacity through mid-December. US orders can still arrive in time, but European deliveries take approximately 5 weeks — plan accordingly.
Everything you need to know to make your custom vinyl record
How do I make my own vinyl record at home?
Place your order at ccsvintage.com and choose your size. Within minutes, Henry emails you a link to a short form where you share your music and photos. You receive a full digital art proof within 24 hours. Approve it and your record is pressed and shipped free to your door — no studio, no equipment, no experience needed.
What is a custom vinyl record?
A custom vinyl record is a physical vinyl disc made with your own music, your own photos, and your personal story — not a mass-produced commercial release. Each one is unique: your favorite songs on the grooves, your photos printed on the cover and center labels, and your message preserved in analog format. CCS Vintage has made over 8,000 custom records since 2021, each one different from the last.
Is it legal to make a custom vinyl record?
Yes, for personal use. The most common legal routes are: using original content you own (voice messages, speeches, original recordings) — no restrictions; using songs you've purchased from Amazon Music, Apple Music, or Bandcamp for personal use; or using music with explicit permission from the artist or label. CCS Vintage does not sell commercially pressed releases of copyrighted material.
Can I make a vinyl record from a Spotify playlist?
Yes. Share your Spotify playlist link in the form Henry sends you after your purchase and we source the audio from it. The same process works with Apple Music, YouTube, Soundcloud, and Bandcamp. You don't need to download anything yourself. Start with your playlist →
What are the vinyl record sizes and how much music fits on each?
Three standard sizes: a 7-inch holds up to 6 minutes per side (max 2 songs), a 10-inch holds up to 12 minutes per side (max 4 songs), and a 12-inch LP holds up to 20 minutes per side (max 6 songs). These are physical limits that apply regardless of the manufacturer. See the full size table above ↑
How much does a custom vinyl record cost in 2026?
CCS Vintage records start at $54.97 for a 7-inch black vinyl and go up to $214.97 for a 12-inch metallic disc (gold, silver, or copper). Colored vinyl starts at $149.97. All formats include free worldwide shipping, cover design, audio mastering, and a free art proof. Use code VINYLGUIDE for 10% off. See the full pricing table above ↑
Is it possible to order just one custom vinyl record?
Yes. CCS Vintage specializes in one-off and short-run orders with no minimum quantity. You can order a single record in any format. This is what makes lathe-cut vinyl ideal for personal gifts — unlike factory pressing, which requires 100+ units minimum. Order your single record →
What types of audio can I record on a custom vinyl?
If you can hear it digitally, CCS Vintage can cut it onto a record. Popular songs, original music, voice messages, wedding vows, a baby's first words, live recordings, a birthday speech — any audio file works. Henry manually balances volume levels so quiet voice notes blend naturally with loud music tracks.
Does a custom lathe-cut vinyl play on any turntable?
Yes. CCS Vintage records play on any standard turntable that supports the corresponding size (7, 10, or 12-inch). The sound is high-fidelity stereo audio — slightly lower in volume than factory-pressed commercial records, which is normal for one-off lathe-cut manufacturing.
How long does it take to make and deliver a custom vinyl record?
You receive a digital art proof within 24 hours of your order. Once approved: US customers receive their record in 5–10 business days. European customers receive theirs in approximately 5 weeks, produced from our Poland hub (no customs duties). For rush orders in the US, contact Henry — Emergency Service is available for tight deadlines.
Can I put voice messages or speeches on a vinyl record?
Yes — it's one of the most requested uses at CCS Vintage. Wedding vows, birthday speeches, a parent's voice message, or a baby's first words can fill an entire side or be woven between songs as a hidden surprise. Henry performs manual audio balancing so voice recordings blend seamlessly with music tracks. Create your memory vinyl →
Can you make a custom vinyl record as a gift for someone else?
Yes. Most orders at CCS Vintage are gifts — anniversaries, weddings, birthdays, milestones. The process is identical whether you're ordering for yourself or someone else. You choose the music and photos, we handle design and manufacturing, and ship directly to you or the recipient. A personal message can be added anywhere on the record — including as a hidden audio track only they'll discover when they play it. Browse gift ideas →
Is the vinyl record size chart standardized — 7, 10, and 12-inch?
Yes. The three standard sizes are universal across all manufacturers: a 7-inch holds up to 6 minutes per side (1–2 songs), a 10-inch up to 12 minutes (3–4 songs), and a 12-inch up to 20 minutes (5–6 songs). These are physical limits — going over them reduces sound quality regardless of who makes your record.
Ready to turn your music into something real?
You have the songs. You have the photos. We handle everything from here — mastering, design, proof, production, and shipping. Henry and Yayi are with you every step of the way.
